UPND Vice President for Administration Geofrey Mwamba and former Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa were yesterday allegedly forcibly removed from of Chisokone market in Kitwe by irate traders after they attempted to address them.
And one of the traders Francis Musonda has reported Mr. Mwamba, popularly known as GBM, to police alleging that he was slapped during the scuffle to remove the two opposition leaders from the market.
National Traders and Marketeers Association of Zambia president Goodson Mofya told ZNBC News that Mr. Mwamba and Mr. Sampa stormed the trading centre but were met with resistance from traders and prematurely left the market.
Mr. Mofya said the two opposition leaders caused unnecessary commotion and confusion at the market.
And Alex Chipoya said traders are saddened that the visit to the market by Mr. MWAMBA and Mr. SAMPA disrupted business operations.
Meanwhile Kitwe District Commissioner Chanda Kabwe said his office has received information about the incident but is waiting for a detailed report from the police.
The two opposition leaders could not be reached for a comment by press time.
