Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has threatened to report President Michael Sata to the International Criminal Court (ICC) if the suspected Patriotic Front (PF) cadres that attacked his entourage in Ndola last Saturday are not arrested.
Mr. Hichilema has also demanded for an apology from President Sata over the attack.
Mr. Hichilema has told a media briefing in Lusaka this morning that the country has slipped into a full-blown dictatorship, as can be seen from the current decline in people’s enjoyment of their civil liberties and the alleged breakdown of the rule of law.
The UPND leader accused the PF government of perpetrating state terrorism by promoting hooliganism in the country.
He says such violence as was witnessed in Ndola last week could also be a plan to stifle people’s rights as well as scare media institutions from allowing alternative voices to be heard in the country.
Mr. Hichilema says such tactics will however not diminish the people’s resolve to demand for a new constitution.
The opposition leader has also appealed to his party members against retaliating with violence to acts of violence by PF cadres.
And Mr. Hichilema says the Zambia Police has been compromised and is biased towards the ruling party.
NO NO NO!!! FOR WHAT???
