EMIRATEs has lifted its excess baggage allowance to a staggering 500 kilogramme (KG) that will boost trading opportunities for entrepreneurs in the country.
Emirates acting country manager for Zambia, Paulos Legesse, said the allowance will boost opportunities for traders in goods from household items and stationery, to car accessories and mobile phones.
“The new allowance boosts opportunities for traders in goods from household items and stationery to car accessories and mobile phones and confirms Dubai as the destination of choice for small-scale entrepreneurs looking to buy merchandise,” he said.
Mr Legesse said this in a statement availed to Daily Mail in Lusaka on Monday.
He said the generous 500kg excess baggage allowance, increased from the previous level of 150kg, is available at an additional cost, and means market traders can bring back more goods from their trips to Dubai.
Mr Legesse said this will help make their businesses more efficient and prices more competitive for their customers.
“Increased baggage allowances make perfect business sense for Emirates and its savvy entrepreneur passengers.
The new allowance is also coupled with the world class shopping facilities offered by Dubai, which is renowned as the ultimate shopping destination,” he said
Mr Legesse said a team of Emirates brand ambassadors will be touring the streets and markets of Lusaka this week to highlight the new 500kg excess baggage allowance and explain its significance directly to thousands of traders in the city centre, Kamwala, Northmead Market, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa Market and City Market.
