GOVERNMENT has disputed reports that it has awarded the tender for the digital migration project to any company.
Ministry of information Permanent secretary Amos Malupenga said government has not award any ontract to Starlight limited over the digital migration project during a press briefing at the ministry’s boardroom today.
This comes to light after Starlight limited released a statement that was published in the times of Zambia newspaper today, which stated that government had awarded the company the contract for the digital
migration project.
“I would like to state clearly that we have not awarded any contract to any company, but we have a preferred company at the moment which is Starlight limited which is a Chinese company from the five bidders that submitted their bids for the project, and I don’t see it morally right for the company to publish that they have been awarded the contract when at the moment receiving appeals from companies that
appealed,” said Malupenga.
He explained that the ministry gave a ten day period in which companies that were not picked for the project to appeal and thereafter make a final decision.
Malupenga however said the procedure of awarding the contract will not delay the implementation of the project.
