Police disrupt FDD meeting in Ndola, Nawakwi refuses to obey orders

Police on the Copperbelt last evening disrupted a meeting held by Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) President Edith Nawakwi in Ndola.

Ms Nawakwi has told Qfm News that the incident happened around 16:00 hours at Plot number 14 Chinika street in Ndola were the FDD secretariat is located where she was meeting some party members.

Ms Nawakwi says she is shocked that Police are still being used to intimidate citizens and opposition leaders even when they are merely holding indoor private meetings concerning their political parties.

She says Police instructed her to cancel the meeting and follow them to the Police station, but that she refused to obey their orders.

Ms Nawakwi says she understands her rights and that there is nothing sinister about her meeting party members and discussing issues concerning the party.

Ms Nawakwi who is still on the Copperbelt has since vowed to continue with the mobilization of the party.
