Sometimes when the media cover the President of Zambia, Michael Chilufya Sata, His Excellency. They do more harm than good. The headline in today’s paper has done just that. One expected that Sata would get to the Brussels conference and put a case for Africa and Zambia in particular, but like his protege, Mugabe, Sata wastes time to talk about How Europe Underdeveloped Africa. And how everything that happens in Africa is the fault of no one else but the west.
Well one could say these things if this was 1958, but not 2014, fifty (50) years from the time Zambia attained independence!
Sata is saying, Zambians are so foolish that they have no solutions to the problems they face. Sata is saying that the dollar at 6 kwacha to one dollar is the fault of the west. The souring debt is the fault of the west. He cannot address the nation, that should be the fault of the west too. Oh, by the way, what about his appointments, by his own admission, they are useless, is that the fault of the west. This man promised a constitution, that too is the west at fault. Sata was photographed in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Poland, in the picture no one was taking notes. Surely that should be the fault of the west.
Sata condemned RB for travelling too much. Atleast the his efforts were paying off. The man brought real investors and spoke to real people who followed up. RB went to Libya, came back with an investor for Zamtel. He went to Nigeria and came back with Dangote. He went to Turkey, he came back with a BOT contract. We were not happy with the eventual results, but he had results no matter how bad. The man went to India, UK and God knows where else to ‘woo’ investors and the man has nothing to show us.
