Claim about Witchcraft courses is misinformation – UNZA
The University of Zambia has dissociated itself from the misinformation generated through social media on the well-intended degree program in Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) which will be funded by UNESCO.
This is according to a statement issued to the media by Public Relations manager Damaseke Chibale.
Mr. Chibale said said in line with the Witchcraft Act as prescribed in Chapter 90 of the Laws of Zambia the University of Zambia Senate would not approve such a purported degree programme.
According to UNESCO 2003 convention “intangible cultural heritage” means the practices, representations, expressions, knowledge ,skills – as well as the instruments, objects, artifacts and cultural spaces associated therewith -that communities ,groups and in some cases individuals recognize as part of their cultural heritage.
