President Edgar Lungu is expectedly in the central province for a two day working visit this week.
During his tour of duty to the region, Mr Lungu will meet the farming community in chisamba, keembe and chibombo respectively.
Mr. Lungu is also expected to tour various development projects in the region.
As National Democratic Congress NDC, we challenge Mr Lungu to visit Mulungushi textiles.
Mr. Lungu reopened the textile firm on August 1 2016 during the run up to the general Polls.
However, Mulungushi textiles is still a shell and over one thousand ex worker’s are still home despite being promised jobs by president Lungu.
In 2016, Mr Lungu said Mulungushi textiles will be under the auspices of the Industrial Development Corporation IDC.
A financing package for the firm was also announced.
Two years down the line, this firm is still moribund.
As NDC we demand that president lungu visits Kabwe and explains to the people why he cheated them in 2016 that the textile firm would be up and running.
As NDC, we feel pity for Kabwe residents who have always been cheated by the Pf leadership.
To Kabwe residents and to the area lawmaker Tutwa Ngulube, this should be a golden opportunity to question the Head of state on the future of this all important firm.
Mp Tutwa Ngulube has been so vocal on Mulungushi textiles. We hope to see how he shall ably represent his people during this rare visit by Mr Lungu to central province.
As NDC, we urge the people of Kabwe to unite and rally behind the NDC.
The NDC in government will unveil a Master plan for Mulungushi textiles.
Mr. Lungu has clearly demonstrated that his pronouncements on Mulungushi textiles are nothing but empty.
Of interest, NDC is wondering why president Lungu has elected not to open the Kabwe mall and fertilizer blending firm during his tour if duty to central province. Anyway, the reasons are obvious.
