Property worth millions has been burnt to ashes or damaged, after a fire swept through one of the floors of Natsave House , on Cairo road in Lusaka’s central business district.
The fire burnt a section of the 7th floor which houses the head office of the National Savings and Credit -Natsave- Bank.
The fire started after 18 hours, and was only put out, after efforts of a combined team of Lusaka Fire Brigade and Zambia Air force -ZAF- fire officers.
Fire bridge Officers only managed to completely put out the fire around 21 hours.
Eye-Witnesses however told ZNBC news that the fire was only noticed after the workers had knocked off.
Scores of Natsave workers, who had been recalled from their homes gathered at the scene, and watched in disbelief, as fire officers struggled to put out the inferno.
Meanwhile, Natsave Managing Director, Cephas Chabu has told ZNBC news by telephone that an investigation is being done and he will only issue a comprehensive report, later in the day.
