A SOLDIER in Kabwe has allegedly died after allegedly drinking an excessive quantity of alcohol, police have said.
The soldier, identified as warrant officer Romack Phiri of Chindwin Barracks was found dead near the garrison around 10:00 hours on Wednesday.
Central Province commissioner of police Lombe Kamukoshi said in an interview in Kabwe on Thursday Mr Phiri of Kankomba village in Chief Kawaza’s area, Katete district, allegedly died after a drinking spree.

“It’s believed that without eating he went on a drinking spree,” Mrs Kamukoshi said. “He failed to walk on his way back home and lay down on the roadside where he died.”
Ms Kamukoshi said Mr Phiri was last seen on November 10, 2015 at a graveyard where he was attending a burial.
She said the police are treating the matter as sudden and unnatural death.
The body of Mr Phiri is lying in Kabwe General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
And police in Kitwe have arrested a 21-year-old woman of Mufuchani area for allegedly poisoning her six-month-old baby, NKOMBO KACHEMBA reports from Kitwe.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said on Thursday the woman murdered the child by giving it an insecticide, which killed it instantly.
Ms Kasosa said the incident happened on Wednesday between 08:00 hours and 10:00 hours.
She said Bupe Sakyaya poisoned her child because she was unable to look after it citing lack of support from its father.
“According to the mother, the father of the child was not supporting them, so she decided to end the life of her six-month-old baby by giving him an insecticide,” she said.
The woman is in custody awaiting appearance in court.

Very bad journalism by Lusakavoice.com you can be sued for showing a picture of beer the deceased was not drinking.

Jamason is deadly. What more with frustrations and people seeking temporary escape from their problems? I blame the leaders.

Mosi or castle can’t kill a person, am sure it was kachasu or chibuku which had poison.
