—-Road Development Agency (RDA) Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bernard Chiwala, has dispelled assertions that the procedure in awarding contracts under the link Zambia -8000 road projects is marred by corruption.
Mr Chiwala says there has been no contract awarded irregularly since he took over office as RDA Chief executive Officer.
He was speaking when he inspected the procured earth moving equipment for the Pave Zambia 2000 project in Lusaka West over the weekend.
Mr Chiwala said the awarding of contracts by the agency is done in the most transparent manner with the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) being part of the tender awarding process.
He disclosed that the agency has spent KR 65 million to purchase the equipment that would be used in the Pave Zambia 200 Project country wide.
Mr Chiwala also disclosed that among the procured equipment so far, 13 are Front- End Loaders, 15 Water Bowsers, 15 Rollers, 15 Motor Graders and 15 Low Bed trailers adding that truck horses have arrived in the country and that 30 tipper trucks are still on the way.
