Nine people have died in separate road traffic accidents, which happened in the Southern, Northern, Lusaka, Central, Muchinga and Eastern provinces.The accidents happened over the weekend.
Police Acting Spokesperson, Esther Katongo has confirmed this in a statement.In Lusaka, 2 pedestrians, identified as William Maya, aged 15 and Sara Mwale, aged 17, died on the spot, while one sustained serious injuries in an accident along Los Angel’s road in Kanyama.
Ms. Katongo has further said in the Southern province, one person died, while another was left with injuries in an accident, which happened 7 kilometers South of Zimba.
And in another accident in Livingstone, a male minor, aged 2, died in a road accident.In Muchinga province, two people died on the spot and three others were injured in an accident, which occurred at Mukoto area along the Mpika-Kasama road.
And in the Eastern province, Ms Katongo explained that Gilbert Mwandila, 64, died on the spot, while two juveniles aged 13 and 15 sustained serious injuries.
This was when the driver of an ox-cart lost control and hit into a tree.Meanwhile, in Central province, a passenger on motor vehicle died on the spot in an accident, which happened at Natuseko primary.
