Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Emmanuel Chenda has said government was committed to providing accurate industrial data base on the available trade and investment opportunities to both local and foreign investors.
Mr. Chenda said quality information on the available trade and investment opportunities was vital for attracting potential foreign and local investors.
He said government, through the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), will continue to provide a comprehensive account of the spectrum of the country’s leading industrial enterprises and their capabilities in various sectors of the economy.
The minister was speaking in a speech read on his behalf by Commerce Permanent Secretary Steven Mwansa at the official launch of a book entitled “An Enterprise Map of Zambia” in Lusaka yester night.
The book was published by the International Growth Centre (IGC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and the Zambia Development Agency.
Mr. Chenda said the launch of the book has come at the right time as it will accelerate Zambia’s aspiration to becoming a strong and dynamic middle income industrial nation that will provide investment opportunities for everyone.
And Bank of Zambia (BoZ) Governor Michael Gondwe said there was need for the country to develop good ideas that will translate in massive investment in various sectors of the economy.
Dr. Gondwe has since called for innovative ideas among business partners if the economy is to accelerate and create more jobs for the local people.
