PUMA Energy Zambia says it is ready to handle the demand for fuel during the United Nations World Tourism Organisation Conference (UNWTO).
The organisation also works in partnership with the mining industry in terms of fuel supply and supports all sectors of the economy in the country.
The UNWTO, which is jointly hosted by Zambia and Zimbabwe, will take place in Livingstone this August.
Puma Zambia board chairperson Jacob Sikazwe said it is most likely that demand will be around Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport and Livingstone’s Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula Airport.
“We invest across the board but then we focus at where demand at that particular time will be higher and we suspect that demand will be around Lusaka and Livingstone airports,” he said.
Mr Sikazwe said this in an interview in Lusaka last week.
He said Puma has put in place a system that will ensure that all its filling stations are adequately supplied with motor vehicle and Jet One A fuel.
He said the role of Puma Energy as a supplier is to ensure that there is enough fuel in all its sites and operations are not interrupted because of low supply.
“Our role is to make sure that every single day, 24/7, we have the products on the ground,” he said.
He said any shortages in fuel supply during the hosting of the UNWTO will derail the holding of a successful event and make the country lose revenue.
Mr Sikazwe added that since the UNWTO is coming to Zambia for the first time, it is an honour for every Zambian business entity to be associated with such an event.
