THE Patriotic Front (PF) and the United Party for National Development (UPND) are ready to contest the forthcoming Malambo, Petauke Central and Mulobezi parliamentary by-elections slated for June 30, 2015.
PF secretary-general Davies Chama said in an interview in Lusaka on Tuesday that the ruling party is confident that the candidates that the ruling party has adopted to contest the three parliamentary seats will win this month’s poll.
“The PF has mounted a very strong campaign team in the three constituencies who have already started campaigning for the adopted candidates.
“We are very confident that we will scoop all the seats because our friends have already started pulling out from the race because they have realised that they cannot win,” Mr Chama said.
He said the party will win the three seats because of the confidence that the people have in the PF leadership style and good policies of Government under President Lungu.
Mr Chama urged the electorates in the three constituencies to turn up in large numbers on June 30 and vote for their preferred candidates in a bid to foster development in the areas.
And UPND deputy spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo is also confident that the three candidates that have been adopted on the opposition party’s ticket will scoop the seats in this month’s parliamentary by-elections.
“We are confident that our candidates will scoop all the three parliamentary by-elections set for this month because we don’t expect to go to a war front to lose,” Mr Lifwekelo said.
The PF has adopted Dora Siliya in the Petauke Central, Patricia Mulasikwanda in Mulobezi and businessman Jack Shuma in Malambo while the UPND is fielding Hastings Sililo in Mulobezi, Allan Zulu in Petauke Central and Peter Phiri in Malambo.
