The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) on the Copperbelt has suspended former Ndola Mayor Davies Chiwala citing gross misconduct.
In a letter written to Mr Chiwala and signed by PF Bwana Mkubwa Constituency Secretary Charles Chianda and Sonstituency Chairman Stewart Zimba, the party regarded the former Mayor’s Act of organizing and attending a meeting for the opposition Rain Bow party as gross misconduct by a leader.
But Mr. Chiwala has denied allegations leveled against him in an interview with ZANIS in Ndola today saying he was what he is because of the PF and that at no time has he interacted with any opposition political party.
‘’The party is left with no alternative but to evoke the party constitution article 74 section 26 and 29 subsection C and D which are offences committed by yourself ,’’read the letter in part.
The letter further barred Mr. Chiwala who is currently Mushili ward councilor from associating or participating in any party activities in Mushili Ward and Bwana Mkubwa Constituency until the higher organs of the party decide his fate.
‘’Arising from your actions you have therefore been barred from associating or participating in any party activities in Mushili Ward and Bwana Mkubwa Constituency until the higher organs of the party decide your final fate, ’’read the letter.
Mr. Chiwala however acknowledged receiving the letter but said that it was not written on a party headed paper and did not receive a letter asking him to exculpate himself.
He instead demanded that the two party officials, Mr Chainda and Mr. Zimba, should apologize to him within 24 hours failure to which he would take the matter to court.
