LEADER of Forum for Democratic Alternatives Ludwig Sondashi says his party is conducting a postmortem to ascertain why he lost the January 20 elections.
Dr Sondashi said in an interview that his party is pondering on the way forward and finding out why voters shunned him despite being the only experienced and best candidates among his contenders.
“I feel disappointed by failure for Zambians to elect me into office in the just-ended elections because I was the only articulate and experienced candidate,” he said.
Dr Sondashi said he would have changed the status of the country if he was voted into power.
He said his party is the only one that had a clear manifesto on what it was going to do once voted into office.
Dr Sondashi outlined some of the things that his party would have worked on such as reduction of presidential powers, introduction of a federal state and enhancement of status of parliament.
Others are to re-instate the controversial Barotseland Agreement among others.
“Unfortunately, I was not adequately voted for. Maybe this could have been necessitated due to lack of party structures in other parts of the country,” he said.
Dr Sondashi said his party will ensure that it puts up structures around the country adding, this will help in selling the party.
He said he will also consider changing his approach in his political journey saying this will be done once the postmortem of his performance in the last elections is finalised.
Dr Sondashi who came out second last got 2,073 votes countrywide.
Meanwhile, Dr Sondashi says some of the ministerial appointments in the Patriotic Front (PF) government by President Edgar Lungu were based on merit.
He however said some appointments were based on patronage.
On the other hand, Dr Sondashi who is also inventor of the Sondashi Formular, the SF2000 an HIV herbal remedy, said he will tomorrow appear before a Parliamentary Committee on Health, Community Development and Social Services to discuss the way forward for his medication.
He expressed hope that the meeting will yield positive results.
