President Edgar Lungu has ordered Police to take action against anyone fomenting post-election violence.
President Lungu said no one must behave in a manner that may cause public disorder in the country.
This is contained in a statement made available to ZANIS by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, Amos Chanda.
He warned PF members to celebrate within acceptable limits and refrain from tempting the opposition to retaliation.
The President has ordered all PF cadres to this effect to stop attacking their UPND counterparts.
He directed the Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani to take action against any form of violence regardless of who commits it.
President Lungu disclosed that he had received reports that some PF cadres were attacking UPND cadres and warned that his administration will not condone violence.
He pointed out that it was unacceptable for PF cadres to continue victimising opposition cadres and urged them to respect the rule of law and maintain law and order.
The President has noted that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has been upright in the way his party has handled the loss of the Presidential election.
Meanwhile Mr. Lungu has urged party members and leaders to remain calm as he prepares to announce his full cabinet when he returns from the African Union Summit in Ethiopia.
The Head of State stated that he would re-appoint some ministers and bring in new ministers to help him achieve his vision of improving the welfare of Zambians.
