Sometimes I wonder what kind of chiefs we have who behave in a manner detrimental to the respect they should be accorded. Instead of a subject paying a courtesy call on them, they would rather leave their palaces to parade before a ‘subject!’ When we refer to them as ma chiefs ya njala or subjects start disrespecting them they should not take offense! They should exhibit a high code of traditional norms being custodians of instruments of ancestral powers!
