CLARIFICATION ON ZAMBIAN WATCHDOG STORY
The Zambian Watchdog has published the story below purporting that Bowman Lusambo was the one who sent the statement we issued last night concerning the candidature of Dr Nevers Mumba. We wish to categorically state that Mr Lusambo does not have access to any official MMD email accounts, the website or social media pages, nor does he have any dealings with the MMD Media Team in any way. The information ZWD posted is factually incorrect and in due course, the MMD leadership shall make further clarification on the events of last night’s NEC meeting.

CORRECTION:
The article published earlier that MMD NEC has adopted Dr Nevers Mumba as its candidate is incorrect. The misleading statement has been circulated by Bowman Lusambo using MMD official emails and published on the MMD website.

The correct position is that the NEC failed to resolve the matter and deferred it to a date yet to be communicated.
Twenty-three of out 26 MMD MPs endorsed former president Rupiah Banda as candidate for the upcoming presidential by-election.
