The Grant Coalition championing for the speedy enactment of the new republican constitution has thanked the Catholic Church and other churches for accommodating them in their campaign for the release of the final draft constitution.
Speaking in Choma at a prayer meeting held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church May 17th, Grant Coalition spokesperson McDonald Chipenzi says the fight for the release for draft constitution is about to be won.
Mr. Chipenzi has since called on the people to endure a bit of embarrassment from government and further reaffirmed the coalitions continued fight of the release of the constitution.
And St Mary’s Parish Priest Father Jere says if the fight of the constitution is to be won, the fight should begin in oneself saying that usually people fear change.
He has since called on people to continue praying to God so that the constitution is delivered.
Speaking during the Church Service, UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema says the PF government wants to divide the people of Zambia by failing to deliver the constitution.
Mr. Hichilema has since called on all the people of Zambia to join the Grand Coalition so as to continue pressing government for the release of the final draft constitution.
And Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) President Charles Milupi told the worshipers that there is need for Zambians to unite over the constitution stating that it is the only way the PF government can feel the pressure of releasing the document.
Various civil society organizations (CSOs) and opposition political parties today gathered at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Choma for their continued petition on government to give the country a people driven constitution.
Civil society organizations together with opposition political parties have embarked on a countrywide campaigns aimed sensitizing the members of the public on the importance of having the constitution and the need to have the constitution immediately.
