Northern Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe has advised transporters not to hike fares.
Mr Sikazwe stated that it will unreasonable to hike transport fares as a result of the increment of fuel prices by an average 8.3 percent.
He said people should not take advantage of a minimal increment so as to exploit consumers.
Mr Sikazwe added that there will be need to have a stakeholders meeting with regard to the hike in the pump price of fuel.
And the Provincial Minister has commended the Kasama District Transport Association for not hiking the bus fares.
Last week the Energy Regulation Board announced the increment of fuel prices by an average 8.3 percent.
