——-Chavuma district has been hit by high malaria incidents prompting the District Health Office to embark on a programme to distribute over 20,000 Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) to the public.
Chavuma District Medical Officer, Kizito Sampa, confirmed that the malaria incidents in the district were worrying, adding that a survey carried out in the district indicate that in 1000 people, 500 have malaria.
Dr Sampa regretted that when mosquito nets are distributed, some beneficiary people use them for fishing, fencing of gardens and threshing of maize.
He, however, said his office will further carryout sensitizations campaigns on the importance of using mosquito nets correctly.
He urged the Chavuma community to ensure that mosquito nets are used as intended in order to reduce the cases of malaria being recorded in the district.
Dr Sampa was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Chavuma this morning.
