People’s Party President Mike Mulongoti has charged that there is a ploy to eliminate the opposition voice in Parliament through the nullification of opposition seats.
Mr. Mulongoti says there is need for the Judiciary to understand that democracy is about competition.
Commenting on the continued nullification of parliamentary seats by the Courts of Law, Mr. Mulongoti says there is no perfect election in the world, adding that nullifying elections is not the best solution.
He says it is sad that only opposition Members of Parliament are losing seats as a result of the nullifications by the Courts.
Mr. Mulongoti says opposition Members of Parliament are part of the governance program and are key in providing checks and balances on government.
He further states that the impression that has been created is that there is a target exercise to eliminate the opposition from parliament thereby killing democracy.
