Foundation for Democratic Process FODEP Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi has noted with disappointment concerns raised by President Michael Sata over the issuance of nationwide broadcasting licenses to privately owned commercial radio stations.
Mr. Chipenzi says it is extremely unfortunate that such news came when FODEP was in the process of writing to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services to commend them for awarding the privately owned radio stations nationwide coverage.
He notes the latest development shows how scared the Patriotic Front PF government of divergent views.
He adds that this is also shows that the media in the country is not free.
Mr. Chipenzi says this has also vindicated FODEP when it stated that the government had been interfering in the operations of the media, adding that it is sad this has been extended to the private media.
