A POLITICAL activist has directly linked Patriotic Front (PF) secretary general Wynter Kabimba (inset) and his assistant Sikwindi Situla to the formation and running of an ‘underground’ party called the Fourth Republic.
The activist identified as Lameck Kamalo told the Zambia Daily Mail in an interview yesterday that he was tired of hiding, hence the reason he has come out in the open and tender his resignation so that he can be a free man. Kamalo spoke to the Daily Mail shortly after a similar interview monitored on Radio Phoenix in Lusaka.
In a letter dated October 9, addressed to Mr Sikwindi Situla, (PF assistant secretary general) based at Godfrey House and copied to Mr Kabimba, Mr Kamalo said he no longer wanted to be associated to the Fourth Republic, which he described as an underground movement so far.
Below is Mr Kamalo’s letter of resignation in full.

Dear sir,
REF: FOURTH REPUBLIC
I hereby write to inform you that I have with immediate effect stepped down as interim President of the Fourth Republic. I wish to state that I will not in any way propel or promote any activity or event aimed at achieving the organisation’s mandate. May I take this opportunity to thank you for the trust and confidence you showed in my abilities to mobilise and champion the above cause.

Both Mr Kabimba and Mr Situla could not be reached for comment at press time.
Mr Kamalo, however, said the main reason he decided to sever links to the Fourth Republic is because it champions federalism more than anything else.
“Federalism, which the Fourth Republic stands for, in my view, is divisive. It means each province will be a stand-alone province at a very high cost,” Mr Kamalo said.
Mr Kamalo added that the existence of the Fourth Republic is evidence of a parallel structure amongst PF members.
Meanwhile, Muvi TV reported last night that Lusaka Province PF chairperson Geoffrey Chumbwe has said that the party has suspended Lusaka district chairperson Robert Chikwelete for allegedly bringing the name of President Sata into disrepute.
But Mr Chikwelete and his supporters have dismissed the suspension as invalid.
