The highlighted irregularities included the misapplication of a total sum of K8.3 billion from the Constituency Development Fund and the grants to local authorities.
The Auditor General’s reports on accounts of parastatal bodies, management of the CDF funds and grants to local authorities for the year ended 31st December, 2011 has also revealed numerous irregularities in parastatal bodies.
ACC Spokesperson Timothy Moono has disclosed to Qfm in an interview that once the commission analyzes the Auditor General’s report it will commence investigations on cases that fall within its mandate.
The ACC’s failure to follow cases of irregularities highlighted in the Auditor General’s reports has made a source of concern for most organisations which would like to see the culprits prosecuted to deter would be culprits.
Meanwhile Mr. Moono has also confirmed that investigations of alleged corruption against former Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) Chief Executive Officer Professor Clive Chirwa and the ZRL dissolved board have been concluded.
Mr. Moono notes that the commission will soon announce its course of action on the basis of what its concluded probe has yielded.
