PF committed to developing Southern province PF will develop Southern province despite being UPND stronghold – Mwila
Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Davies Mwila has said government will not leave out Southern province from the ruling party’s development despite being a strong hold for the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND).
Mr. Mwila, who was on the tour of all the districts in Southern province, said in Siavonga that the township roads in Livingstone have been completed.
He said the government will now move in to complete the township roads in Choma and Monze.
He disclosed that government has constructed a hospital and a secondary in Gwembe district to uplift the lives of the valley people.
Mr. Mwila said the Road Development Agency (RDA) will be on the ground to work on the township roads in Siavonga adding that government will also look at the possibility of constructing a district hospital in Siavonga.
He also told the members to start preparing for 2021 general elections and ensure that all structures on the ground are working.
He further said the party has been failing to gain enough support in the Southern province because of having weak structures on the ground.
Mr. Mwila also urged members to be committed to the party and be united for them to have a solid base as they approach 2021.
“This year we have to start preparing for 2021 election. Let us get the UPND members and have them join us and all the structures have to be put in place because without them we cannot go anywhere,” Mr. Mwila said.
He has meanwhile warned the PF leadership in Siavonga district to desist from bickering as they risked being dissolved.
He said the PF will not allow incompetent people to hold leadership positions noting that the party wants people that can work to strengthen grass root structures.
The ruling party SG told the PF leadership that it will be helped for them to ensure that the party is strong at the grassroots.
And Southern province PF chairperson Evans Lawrence also urged the Siavonga party leadership to be united so that they can help to rebuild the party.
Mr. Evans noted that it is difficult to attract new members to the party when the leadership is fighting among one another and it can make the party fail to grow in the district.
The Secretary General and his team, which included members of the central committee and the PF Southern province leadership, was on a tour of the province to gauge the strength of the party and how it can be mobilized in the region.
