Zambian Breweries opens One million hectolitre plant in Ndola

REPUBLICAN Vice  president Guy Scott has commended Zambian Breweries Plc for showing confidence in the people of Zambia and the PF government for investing colossal sums of money into One million hectolitre plant project in Ndola.

Zambian Breweries Plc has since officially opened its new One million hectolitre plant at its Ndola Brewery.

Vice President, Guy Scott, was on hand to open the brewery together with the SABMiller Africa Managing Director, Mark Bowman.

“My Government, the PF Government, is in a hurry to develop this country and deliver social services to our people but to do this we need our private sector partners to invest and grow their businesses so that they can create more job opportunities for our people, especially the youths,” said Scott.

SABMiller Africa Managing Director, Mark Bowman said his company was proud of the investment it had made in Zambia over the last two years which, in additional to the $90million invested in the Ndola Brewery, includes the $5million that was put into the new Chibuku Plant in Kitwe.

“Seven months ago, I was here to witness the commissioning of our new National Breweries Plc Chibuku plant in Kitwe, so you can imagine my great joy to be back here to witness the official opening of the One million hectolitre plant in Ndola.

This is a very exciting season for all of us in SABMiller, and it clearly demonstrates our confidence in the growth story of Zambia.” said Bowman.

Copperbelt Minister, Mwenya Musenge who was also present at the function said as the provincial minister he was happy to see that the continuous commitment by Zambian Breweries Plc has resulted in improved productivity, acquisition of superior technology and indeed production of quality beverages that our citizens continue to enjoy.

He said with staffing levels of over 1000, Zambian Breweries Plc stands as the country’s largest beverage company and is a major contributor to economic development and GDP growth through tax remittance and employment creation in its value chain.

The company received diamond awards as the best non-alcoholic beverage company and as producer of best alcoholic beverages in annual PMR Africa annual survey. It won two additional Diamond awards in the categories “companies/institutions doing most to demonstrate exceptional managerial and corporate governance qualities” and “Zambia’s overall favorite brands” where Mosi lager was the obvious win.
