Management at Lukashya Trades Training Institute in Kasama has suspended classes due to the prolonged critical water shortage at the learning institution.
College Principal Monica Kaniki said management feared an outbreak of waterborne diseases at the institution and decided to just suspend classes.
She said the institution is currently drawing water from a nearby stream to cater for basic needs of the students.
Ms Kaniki expressed fear that the water situation might negatively affect the performance of the students who are due to sit for exams in August.
‘’We are hesitant to shut down the school completely because of the impending exams, ’she said.
Ms Kaniki appealed to government to intervene in the matter.
