And the Tourism Council of Zambia (TCZ) has said the route will help raise the number of tourist arrivals into the country.
The flight is expected to boost trade links between Zambia and Zimbabwe considering the number of business people who are looking southwards towards trade opportunities in the neighbouring Zimbabwe.
A familiarisation trip to Zimbabwe by Zambian journalists taken by Emirates Airlines last week showed that the flight was enabling entrepreneurs and executives to travel for meetings and return the next day.
The new market opportunities come at the back of renewed growth in Zimbabwe’s economy as it recovers from economic problems in recent years.
Equally, Zimbabwe entrepreneurs and multinational companies are also exploring business opportunities in Zambia, helping to forge stronger ties between the two countries.
Commenting on the flight in Lusaka yesterday, TCZ chairperson Felix Mulenga said the fight would enable tourists make meaningful decisions to enjoy tourism facilities between the two countries.
“For us, this is a good development as it will be able to raise the number of tourist arrivals into the country,” Mr Mulenga said.
Emirates spotted the turnaround in February 2012 when it introduced its service from Dubai to Lusaka and onwards to Harare, returning through Lusaka.
The EK 713, which the local journalists boarded, departs Dubai everyday at 09:25 hours, arriving in Lusaka at 14:25 hours.
The service departs Lusaka at 16:05 hours, arriving in Harare at 17:10 hours, while the return flight leaves Harare at 18:40 hours, arriving in Lusaka at 19:50 hours.
