UTH to soon begin the use of Telemedicine

The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) says it will very soon begin to use the new Telemedicine system.

UTH public Relations Manager Mwenya Mulenga has told Qfm in an interview that this is a modern way of consultation which the ministry of health is spearheading.

Mr. Mulenga says this will reduce on referral cases from far flung areas because health institutions will be able to consult directly without having to physically send patients.

Mr Mulenga says government is keen in seeing to it that the Telemedicine system succeeds.

And some patients spoken to expressed happiness with the initiative as it will reduce on costs incurred in moving patients from hospital to the other.

The Telemedicine system is a system were hospitals both local and international will be able to consult each other on certain complicated health cases through the internet.
