—–Police in Namwala district has picked up a body of a man identified as Cassias Wakumelo who drowned on April 13, 2013 in the Kafue River at a place called Shimwandu area in Chief Mukobela’s area.
Police sources in Namwala said they had received a report on April 13, 2013, of a man-made boat which was carrying two people, a husband and his wife, that capsized near an area called Shimwandu in chief Mukobela’s area.
The wife of Mr Wakumelo managed to swim to the shores of Kafue river for safety while the husband failed to swim.
Mr Wakumelo died in the river and the body has since been found floating.
The body of the deceased is lying in Namwala District Hospital Mortuary awaiting burial.
Police has warned members of the public not to use boats which are not fit for dip waters like the Kafue River and other water bodies.
