Musenge not happy with Kitwe City Council performance
Ndola, April 10, 2013, ZANIS ————– Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge has expressed disappointment at the poor performance of Kitwe City Council (KCC).
Mr Musenge said this when Deputy Minister of Lands, Natural Resources and Environmental protection Folly Tembo paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Ndola today.
Mr Musenge said KCC was not giving services to its people and that the city was dirty because the local authority was not performing according to expectations.
He said KCC has even suspended the allocation of plots to the residents but that people where constructing all over the town.
He said the local authority has also suspended the Mayor and are calling for the Deputy mayor to act as mayor which he said was not the right procedure.
Mr Musenge called on Mr Tembo to address the issues surrounding KCC as there were a lot of issues at the local authority.
Mr Musenge further said the disbanded Zambia National Marketeers Association (ZANAMA) members have taken over the running of Nakadoli market in Kitwe which made it difficult for the local authority to collect levies from them.
And responding to Mr Musenge’s concerns over KCC, Mr Tembo said he will try by all means within his powers to address the issues at the local authority.
Mr Tembo said the law will take its course on whoever would be found wanting at KCC whether it is political or not.
Mr Tembo who is on the Copperbelt province on a fact finding mission assured the provincial Minster that he will handle the issues at KCC and that by the time he leaves Kitwe there would be progress.
