Cordial relations of border officers impresses minister
Mbala, May 13, ZANIS——- Northern Province Minister Obius Chisala has expressed happiness with good relationship existing between the Tanzanian and Zambian Immigration authorities at Kasesha border in Mbala district.
Mr Chisala made the remarks when he toured Kasesha border post yesterday.
He urged both the Tanzanian and Zambian Immigration officers to maintain the cordial working relationship so as to enhance service delivery to the public.
Mr Chisala however expressed concern at poor facilities at Kasesha border post on the Zambia side where Immigration and Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) officers were sharing one small office without communication facilities and toilets.
The Minister also bemoaned the lack of transport and housing for government employees serving at Kasesha border post and promised to follow the matter with relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, Mr Chisala is pleased with the construction of infrastructure at Kalambo falls where government has so far released KR 2.5 million to put up information centre and ablution block for tourists.
Mr Chisala has also ordered the contractor to re-do part of the works at the site centre which were not satisfactory.
The Provincial Minster further bemoaned the poor state of the road leading to Kalambo Falls and urged the District Commissioner to urgently facilitate the rehabilitation of the road to easy access to the tourist site.
