Public workers urged to join corruption fight
Mpulungu, May 11, ZANIS —— Northern province Minister Obius Chisala has implored public service workers to join the fight against corruption and support the PF government’s vision of accelerating development in the nation.
Speaking when he addressed government workers at Mpulungu Council Chamber yesterday, Mr Chisala said it is important for public service workers to realise that they are part and parcel of the crusade against corruption in society.
He said corruption was detrimental to national development hence the need to stop the vice at all cost.
Mr Chisala warned workers at Mpulungu Rural Health Centre and school teachers to desist from unprofessional conduct like drunkenness while on duty or risk being dismissed from the civil service.
He urged public service workers to observe punctuality and hard work in their execution of duty in order to promote confidence among the general citizenry.
Meanwhile, Mpulungu District Commissioner Juliana Chuzu has congratulated Mr Chisala on his appointment as Northern Province Minister by President Michael Sata.
Ms Chuzu praised government for releasing KR 48 million for upgrading of Mpulungu Township roads to bituminous standard.
She said China Geo Construction Company which is carrying the road works has created employment opportunities to local people.
Ms Chuzu added that the construction of Lunzuwa Hydro Power station will help address the power failures in Mpulungu district once the project is completed.
The District Commissioner further said the water project aimed at improving water supply to Mpulungu residents is in progress following the release of KR 20 million by government.
