15year old drowns in Kapiri
Kapiri Mposhi, May 10, 2013, ZANIS- a 15-year-old boy of Liombe village in Senior Chief Chippepo’s area has drowned in Lukanga Swamps.
The boy drowned yesterday around 15:00 hours while fetching water for his family.
Liombe Village Headwoman Loveness Chimbuleni who confirmed the incident to ZANIS today identified the victim as Morris Chanda.
The body of the deceased was retrieved yesterday by fishermen and is lying in state at the parents’ home awaiting burial.
Meanwhile, Headwoman Chimbuleni has bemoaned the increased number of drowning cases in the area.
She told ZANIS that so far six people have drowned in the same area this year alone.
The traditional leader has appealed to the villagers to be more cautious whenever fishing and drawing water from the swamp to prevent deaths.
