Installed chief not supported by BRE
Kaoma, May 6, ZANIS ——– The newly installed Nkoya chief for Luampa district by chiefs Mutondo and Kahare has appealed to government to assist him with funds so that he could quickly construct his palace.
Chief Munyikwa Lushato Matanda said this in an interview with ZANIS after he paid a courtesy call on Kaoma District Commissioner Joster Manjolo today.
He said that the temporal construction of his palace in the newly created Luampa district will soon commence.
Chief Matanda said his installation was done during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Evangelical Church in Zambia in Luampa to identify a place for the establishment of Luampa district offices that was attended by Luampa constituency Member of Parliamnet Josephine Limata, District Commissioner Richard Simbula civic leaders and other government officers last week.
He said once his palace is fully constructed, he will ensure that all the Nkoya speaking people in Luampa district would be strengthened so that government projects are supported.
Chief Matanda said he supported the move by President Michael Sata towards the creation of more districts as step in the right direction and will foster development in Luampa district.
And Kaoma District Commissioner, Joster Manjolo has advised the newly installed chief Matanda to always be in touch with the District Commissiner’s office in Luampa district.
Mr Manjolo said at the moment he can not involve himself into the matters of Luampa because government has already appointed a new District Commissioner for the area.
And in an interview with the Naliele Barotse Royal Establishment in Kaoma district, Imangambwa (Prime Minister) Namushi Nyambe described the installation of Chief Matanda for Luampa as not supported by the Barotse Royal Establishmet in Kaoma and Mongu respectively.
Induna Imangambwa said no one is allowed to install any chief in Kaoma without the blessing and authority of the BRE adding that government is to blame for allowing illegal installation of chiefs in the district without following the set traditional norms.
