Local Government and Housing Deputy Minister Nicholas Banda has said government was working extremely hard to develop all district in the country.

Mr. Banda said government was committed to fulfilling its promises of taking services as close to the people as possible.

He said this in Chilanga yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on Chilanga District Commissioner Patrick Phiri.

He said government has decided to take a decentralised approach to reach out to the people even in the remotest parts of the country.

Mr. Banda said being a new district, Chilanga will require all the necessary support that was needed in order to develop it into a fully fledged district.

He has since encouraged the Chilanga district administration to work in collaboration with the Chilanga District Council to foster development.

Mr. Banda said there was also need for the council in the area to wisely utilise the revenue that was collected in the district.

And Chilanga District Commissioner Patrick Phiri has appealed to the Minister of Local Government to ensure that the district benefits from the Pave-Zambia project.

Mr. Phiri said roads in the district were in a bad state thereby posing a mobility challenge to people in the area.
