—-Indian High Commissioner to Zambia, Ashok Kumar, says his country is ready to assist Zambia boost its agriculture through provision of appropriate technology to meet economic challenges.
Speaking in Choma today when he called on Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe, Mr Kumar observed that Zambia is a country with vast natural resources and manageable population.
He said India has the agricultural technology that is relevant to Zambia.
Commissioner Kumar said India stands ready to help Zambia in capacity building and infrastructural development that is relevant especially to the expansion of Choma district.
He said through the Indian Business Council, Zambia would benefit from soft loans intended to help boost various economic activities.
And Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe, said he wants Choma to grow, especially that President Sata, during yesterday’s visit, emphasized the need for infrastructural development in the new provincial capital.
Mr Munkombwe has challenged the Choma Municipal Council to seize the opportunity for financial assistance through the Indian Business Council to put up necessary infrastructure.
He said the council has a lot of influence that Choma stands to benefit.
