CAMFED to train 3,000 school leavers by 2016

—The Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) says it expects to train over 3, 000 school leavers in entrepreneurship skills by 2016 in the country.

CAMFED Coordinator for Northern and Muchinga Provinces, Albert Bwalya, says the survival skills which will be given to the girls will help to sustain their lives.

Mr Bwalya said this in Kasama during the first training of 55 girls who completed their school last year.

He explained that his organization is concerned with the well being of the girl child hence coming up with this initiative of imparting entrepreneurship skills to them.

He has since advised participants in the training to put in their best and use the knowledge they will acquire into good use.

And CAMFED programmes manager, Pamela Hamweemba, revealed that her organization will conduct similar skills training programmes for girls in four provinces.

Ms Hamweemba added that CAMFED was targeting to train 700 school leavers per year.

She further said her organisation will give grants to the participants after training as a way of helping them improve their livelihood.
