Kabitaka housing projects impresses PS
Solwezi, April11, ZANIS —- North-Western province Permanent Secretary Augustine Seyuba has expressed satisfaction at the rate at which construction works of the US$ 44 million Kabitaka hills housing project under Kansanshi mine in Solwezi district is progressing.
Mr Seyuba said he is impressed with the pace at which the project is going and assured that government will continue supporting such investment aimed at reducing accommodation and unemployment problems in the district.
He was speaking in Solwezi today after touring the Kabitaka hills housing project construction site.
Mr Seyuba said his office will continue to provide quality leadership to such huge investment by the mining company as it will help meet government’s commitment in job creation by employing the local people.
He has commended Kansanshi mine for the initiative and assured both the investor and the Kabitaka community that government will ensure a win-win situation over the on-going project.
“Be very careful in your job recruitment process, don’t leave out the local people from the Kabitaka community, get people out of the streets of Solwezi by doing so you will be helping government to meet its commitment in job creation,” Mr Seyuba said.
Speaking during the same tour, Kabitaka hills housing project Programnes Superintendent Alister Keith said so far over US$10 million has been spent in the initial phase of the housing project.
Mr Keith said the construction works are progressing well and appealed to government to help the mining company acquire the title deeds for the plots and houses under this project.
He thanked government and the Kabitaka community for the incredible support towards the project.
About 380 out of the 518 housing units are expected to be completed by September this year at Kabitaka housing project in Solwezi district of North Western province.
The mining company has acquired 231 hectares of land to construct 920 housing units for both Kansanshi mine employees and the community as a whole in a period of five years.
