-Construction progress saddens PS

Government is concerned with the delay to construct Mongu district hospital in the western province which is two years behind schedule.

Western province permanent secretary Emmanuel Mwamba said so far only the first phase of the project that included a Maternity wing, a kitchen, a laundry block and a theatre wing have been done.

Mr Mwamba said construction works of the second and third f phase of the hospital have since been awarded to another constructing firm  Huachangu Infrastructure because the initial constructor who was engaged to do the works had given government a lot problems.

He was speaking in Mongu today when he toured the hospital construction site.

And provincial medical officer Albert Sitali said the second phase of the hospital that will include a male ward, out- patient department (OPD)  and an administration block is expected to be complete by January next year.
