Chieftainess Kaputa wants new hospital
Kaputa, September 15, 2014—Acting Chieftainess Kaputa has asked government to consider constructing a new hospital in Kaputa district.
The Chieftainess said the current district hospital is inadequate to carter for the ever growing population in the area.
She said the current hospital is ever congested stating that it would be important for it to be expanded or if a new hospital is constructed altogether.
The traditional leader who was speaking when Minister of Health, Joseph Kasonde called on her at Chitandala palace yesterday.
She further urged government to look into the issue of staff shortages in the health sector.
She said Kaputa has serious staff shortages adding that government should consider deploying more medical staff to the district.
The Acting Chieftainess further commended government for the strides it was making to improve the country’s health sector.
And Health Minister, Joseph Kasonde said government has a robust infrastructure development plan which will see the construction of health centers around the country.
Dr. Kasonde added that his Ministry has also taken the issue of drug supplies seriously to ensure that the country does not experience any shortages.
He said the country has adequate drugs and will ensure that it develops a good distribution plan .
Dr. Kasonde said government was also focused to ensure that the country is rid of malaria.
The Minister said Zambia was capable of eradicating malaria even though it has swampy areas .
Dr. Kasonde is in Kaputa for among other things to check the districts preparedness against the Ebola virus.
