Former Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) Executive Director, Bishop Paul Mususu has observed that the increase in road accidents in the country can partly be attributed to corruption in the enforcement of road safety regulations.
Bishop Mususu further states that the issuance of driver’s licenses to people who may not be qualified to be on the road.
Bishop Mususu has told Qfm in an interview that even in instances where some drivers are caught drinking and driving, they are left scot free due to corruption.
He notes that as long as corrupt officers are not dealt with, it is difficult to reduce the accidents.
Bishop Mususu says drivers should not be allowed to endanger people’s lives through over speeding, drinking and driving and overloading.
He regrets that it is sad that many lives have been lost due to road accidents.
Bishop Mususu has since implored Zambians to observe road safety rules.
