At least ten pupils at Zambezi boarding school in North-western Province are being treated for malaria on a daily basis, school authorities have said.
This situation has prompted school administration to appeal for over 1000 mosquito nets for the pupils.
Acting school head teacher, David Simau, made the appeal to the office of the Provincial Permanent Secretary, Amos Malupenga, to source the mosquito nets to caution the disease burden on the school.
Mr Simau told Mr Malupenga yesterday during a meeting called for heads of government institutions in the district that the situation is worrisome.
He said it has become expensive for the school to be taking ten pupils on average every day to the hospital for treatment.
And Mr Malupenga described the situation as alarming because the statistics are high to manage on daily a basis.
He promised that his office would engage relevant institutions to address the situation at the institution which has over 1, 500 pupils.
