Chief Kaputa of the Tabwa speaking people of Kaputa district has volunteered to be teaching mathematics at Kaputa secondary school.
The Traditional leader, who said he is knowledgeable in mathematics, said he wants to inspire pupils in the subject.
He has since requested the school head to be inviting him from time to time to be taking the pupils in the subject.
ZANIS reports that the Traditional leader said this when Education Minister Dr. John Phiri called on him at his palace over the weekend.
The traditional leader has also appealed to the minister to complete works at the secondary school which has stalled due to lack of funding.
He said the district only has one secondary school noting that many pupils who got good results but did not reach the cutoff point are now failing to proceed to grade ten due to limited spaces.
Meanwhile Education Minister, John Phiri has commended the Chief for volunteering to take pupils in mathematics.
The Minister observed that there is need for influential leaders such as Chief Kaputa to be meeting with pupils from time to time to inspire them in their education.
Dr. Phiri said he has been inspired by the traditional and urged him to continue inspiring youths in his Chiefdom.
He has since directed the head teacher at the school take advantage of the traditional leader to help inspire pupils at the school.
