Chibombo District in Central province has received most of the farming inputs meant for farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) for the 2013-2014 farming season but is still awaiting 1,902 x 50 kilogramme bags of urea fertilizer.
Chibombo District Commissioner (DC) Felix Mangwato said the district had already received the other farming inputs which include seed, basal and some top dressing fertilizers for this farming season.
Mr. Mangwato told ZANIS in Chibombo yesterday that the district would soon receive the balance of 1,902 by 50 kgs bags of fertilizer.
He said authorities in the district would quickly distribute the remaining fertilizer to intended beneficiaries once it is received.
Mr. Mangwato could not however disclose the total number of fertilizer bags the district is supposed to receive.
He has meanwhile reiterated government’s determination to enhance food security at district, province and national level.
He commended the government through the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock for dispatching bags of seed, D-compound and some urea fertilizer to the farmers.
