Kasama PF senior members suspended

The Patriotic Front in Kasama district has suspended five party officials for alleged gross indiscipline.

Those suspended are Kasama Central Constituency Chairman Abraham Mulenga, his Constituency Information and Publicity Secretary Bernard Chanda and District Women’s Secretary, Bernadette Chanda.

Others are District Women’s Treasurer Dyness Chisanga and Kasama Central Constituency Vice Information and Publicity Secretary Hellen Chisanga.

Kasama District Information and Publicity Secretary Chanda Kabwe confirmed the suspensions of the party officials to ZANIS in Kasama today.

Mr Kabwe said the suspended officials refused to participate in petitioning of the party’s Central Committee to expel Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba from the ruling party.

He has since warned the suspended officials to refrain from taking part in any party activities until their fate is decided by the District Disciplinary Committee.

And when reached for a comment, suspended Kasama Central Constituency Chairman Abraham Mulenga confirmed receiving his letter of suspension.

Mr Mulenga however, said he and other party officials attended the meeting where the senior party officials decided to call for the expulsion of Kasama Central Constituency MP Geoffrey Mwamba but refused to endorse the action.

He appealed to PF district leadership to foster unity in the ruling party by accommodating divergent views among party members.

Last week, the PF in Northern province staged a peaceful demonstration to petition President Michael Sata to expel Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba from the ruling party.
