Sata declares Saturday National Mourning in honour of Ms Mithi

President Michael Sata has declared Saturday, 4th January,2014, a day of national mourning starting from 06:00 hours to 18:00 hours in honour of Mufulira District Commissioner Beatrice Mithi who pass away on Tuesday,31st December,2013 at Malcolm Watson Hospital in Mufulira.

Secretary to the Cabinent, Dr Roland Msiska announced the declaration of the national mourning in a statement issued to QFM News.

Dr Msiska says during the period of national mourning, all flags will fly at half-mast and activities of entertainment nature should be postponed or cancelled.

He says Mrs Mithi will be put to rest at Chalitulinga cemetery in Mufurila after a requiem service which will be held at the United Church of Zambia central congregation at 09:00 hours.

Dr Msiska adds that the body of the late District Commissioner, who died at the age of 57, was today scheduled to be transported to Ndola central hospital for a postmortem at which it would lie in state at St Ann Funeral Parlour, before proceeding to Mufulira for burial tomorrow.

Mrs Mithi is survived by a husband and four children.
